OB-08 was registered through an intermediary rather than direct holder contact — the only fragment in the registry whose registration was not initiated by the holder themselves. The intermediary provided physical descriptions, photographs, and measurements consistent with OB material. The intermediary facilitated one brief contact with the holder, who confirmed possession and expressed interest in registry participation.
Contact was not sustained. The intermediary became unreachable within six weeks of the initial registration. Subsequent attempts to reach the holder directly produced no response. The Lapidary dispatched a representative to the last known address. The address was occupied by persons with no knowledge of the fragment or the previous occupant.
The fragment has not been seen by anyone in contact with the Lapidary since the single confirmed holder contact.
WHAT THE LAPIDARY KNOWS
OB-08 exists. The photographs and measurements are consistent with every other registered fragment. The mass property — which cannot be fabricated — was confirmed by the intermediary with a weight measurement the Lapidary has no reason to doubt.
Where OB-08 is now, the Lapidary does not know.
WHAT THE LAPIDARY DOES NOT KNOW
Whether OB-08 is still with its last known holder. Whether the last known holder is still in the last known region. Whether the intermediary's disappearance is connected to the holder's disappearance. Whether OB-08 has experienced any liquefaction events since contact was lost. Whether OB-08 is still intact.
The Lapidary notes that a fragment with a mass-to-volume discrepancy of approximately 70kg is not easy to misplace. Someone knows where OB-08 is. It is not the Lapidary.
