NOTES ON REGISTRATION
OB-09 is the only fragment in the registry where the holder found the Lapidary rather than the Lapidary finding the holder. The standard pattern of contact is: holder finds fragment, experiences unusual properties, searches for others who have encountered similar material, is found by or finds the Lapidary.
OB-09's holder found the Lapidary's registry documentation — through means the holder has not fully described and the Lapidary has not pressed on — before experiencing any liquefaction event. The holder contacted the Lapidary with a description of the fragment, photographs, and the specific question: "is this what I think it is."
The Lapidary's response was a request for the mass measurement.
When the holder provided the mass measurement, the Lapidary registered OB-09.
WHAT THE LAPIDARY IS ASSESSING
Full physical verification is scheduled. The Lapidary is arranging a visit. The holder has also reported, in correspondence filed since registration, that OB-09 has recently begun exhibiting minor temperature fluctuations beyond its baseline — not a liquefaction event, but a change. The Lapidary is treating this as a possible precursor to a first event and has asked the holder to document everything.
The holder has been documenting. The correspondence archive is growing.
The Lapidary notes that OB-09's holder found the registry. The Lapidary does not know what this means. It is possible it means nothing. It is possible that nine is a significant number and the ninth fragment's holder was supposed to find the registry.
The Lapidary does not usually think in terms of what is supposed to happen.
It is noting that it is thinking in those terms now.
